LeanKit API (v1): Move a Card

In order to move a card using the LeanKit API, you need to provide the following:

  1. The Board ID (same as most of the other API calls)
  2. The Card ID
  3. The Lane ID for the destination Lane
  4. The position in the lane where you want the card moved. A value of 9999 will move the card to the last position in the lane and is the most optimal way to make this call.

To get the available Lane Ids, use the Get Board Identifiers API call, or to get the entire board including the Lanes and Lane Ids and the cards in each lane, use the Get a Board API call.

Response

Following is an example response for a successful card move. Note that ReplyData contains the new BoardVersion after the card move.

{
    "ReplyData": [ 1145 ],
    "ReplyCode": 202,
    "ReplyText": "The Card was moved successfully."
}

Following is an example response if moving the card would cause the WIP limit for the destination lane to be exceeded. If you receive this error, you will need to use the Move Card with WIP Override method.

{
    "ReplyData": null,
    "ReplyCode": 900,
    "ReplyText": "Performing this action will cause the In Process to exceed its WIP (Work in Process) limit. You must specify a reason for performing this override."
}
